Mar. 11th, 2013 11:26 pmI am back from 12 days in Pittsburgh. I think this move is going to be the death of me. Or of the next person who gives me shit about anything move-related. Maybe I'll just feed myself to the wild dogs and let dreamweaver keep the kids.
But I got Dad moved and got the place cleaned out, which was a job and a half. I still cannot believe how much crap was in that house. I filled up a 15 yard dumpster (with minimal help from my brother, Jack). Half the garage is filled with furniture to sell and furniture Jack wants for when he gets a place in the next few months. This means that I will not be able to actually park in the garage, but it will be spring and I can cope. Whatever is not out of there by the fall is getting donated or pitched.
I painted Katrina's room (orchid-y pink), the living and dining rooms (a greenish taupe or putty color), and did one coat in the kitchen (melon). After my mother came over and saw the truly scary amount of work I had to do, she went ahead and hired a painter to do the rest, AND she paid for her cleaning lady to give the place a good going-over, including waxing the wood floors while there's no furniture on them!!! It's unusual that she wants to do something for me, as opposed to the kids, and even more unusual that it's something I actually want. She tends more toward buying me shoes I don't like that aggravate my knee.
I did have a momemt of brilliance that involved covering a lamp shade with owl fabric for Katrina's room, and using another owl fabric to line the shelves of a great corner cabinet I rescued from the depths of the basement. I have pictures, but am too tired to upload them now. I drove back home today, and Bruce is moving up on Thursday...I have sososososo much to do before then. :-(
Dianne, I'm sorry I didn't even remember to get in touch with you to not set up plans (you know what I mean). Next month after the dust settles we will definitely get together.
