My car is in the shop this afternoon, getting its 40,000 mile checkup. Dad let me borrow his car to pick Katrina up from day camp.

Now she and Robby are both resting and I am cooking with all the groceries Robby and I bought this morning at Costco. I am making lamb stew in the superduper whamodyne crock pot, homemade spaghetti sauce with hot sausage on the stove, and salmon, asparagus, and escalloped potatoes in the oven. This should see us and Dad through the weekend.

Katrina is really enjoying soccer camp, although she tends to have a bit of a fit when it's time to go home. But four-year-olds are not exactly known for the ease with which they transition. She likes all the kicking they do at camp.

Thank you to everyone who gave me input for the icon cross stitch. I am taking your overwhelming advice to stitch the background cross motif tone on tone in silk and leave the rest of the back open. I hope to have another small project finished in the next week (the bird one). The giant Beatrix Potter Crosstitch has still not surfaced. :-(

I did all the online paperwork for Bruce's background check for the GS position. As usual, no hard start date yet, but hopefully things will move quickly. I think some of it will depend on people's vacation schedules since it's summer.

We already have a short list of priorities for when our income goes up again and our healthcare expenses go way way down. This $1200 a month for health insurance premiums is a killer, especially when Bruce is only making 25 an hour. I need to get the transmission fluid flush on my car, and we may need new siding for the house. We definitely need to do something about the windows.

Do female Rose breasted grosbeaks have red on their chests? If they do then I have another black-and-white bird that needs identifying...

My knee still hurts and is swollen. I have not been able to workout since last Saturday. I think I might be losing my mind.

It's interesting though that even on days I am "resting my knee" I still end up walking between eight and 10,000 steps a day. This is partially because I get really twitchy when I can't exercise, and partially because kids don't care if you hurt.
