Hey LJ, I'm going to be on the radio!
Dec. 23rd, 2013 06:32 pmIn case anyone cares, or wants something to listen to while doing last-minute holiday prep, KDKA radio will be broadcasting live from Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church in Ambridge, PA at midnight eastern time.
KDKA 1020 streams online at KDKA.com. Just click on the red "Listen Live" and then choose "KDKA Newsradio 1020".
The program starts at 1130 pm eastern with a bit of a pregame, explaining what will be going on, since most people are not that familiar with Eastern Rite services. Then we will be singing some Ukrainian carols and leading right into the Christmas Divine Liturgy.
Yours truly will be the soloist for the Antiphons, Tropar, and a pretty neat Glory be. It's towards the beginning, right after the first round of "Lord, have mercy's. I start with "I will confess you, Lord" and the solos are all me until the "Glory be" with the odd rhythm.
Even aside from my small worldwide debut ;-) the music really is beautiful, especially if you like chant, or folksongs, or basses. We have lovely basses.
I know
thexphial and
pinkminx are fond of church music, and we shift tones like nobody's business. And this is the same service that has been used by the Orthodox church since approx. 500, so it might be pertinent for
mmegaera's upcoming project you asked me about.
No matter what you all are up to tomorrow night, Happy Christmas Eve to those who celebrate, and a late Happy Solstice as well!
