Three things make a post

1. Dear Bruce: I cannot tell you what your schedule is if you do not bring said schedule home from work first. Getting annoyed with me from the cardiologist office does not make me magically able to know what your schedule is. Bring the damn thing home like I asked. Thanks. Me.

2. It is damn hot here. And we don't have an air conditioner, so this 90° class is kind of rough. Robbie and Katrina are not sleeping well at all because of the heat, which makes everyone cranky.

3. I have a growth on my thyroid that may be cancer. I'm getting blood work tomorrow and CT on Friday, so hopefully I should know more by the end of next week. Though even the worst case scenario is really not bad. If I have to pick a type of cancer to get it would definitely be thyroid.

:( I'm sorry, you're in my thoughts, I hope everything turns out okay.

Thanks. I'm pretty okay, to be honest. Worst case scenario is they take out my thyroid and I'm on synthetic hormones for the rest of my life. It will be nice to know for sure what's going on, though.

Mostly I'm glad to have a reason for all these weird health things that have been going on.

Eek! Well, it's a less frightening cancer than many others if it comes to that, like you say-- I know a few people who've had full thyroidectomies and they've done okay.

All the good vibes in the world your way, I hope yours is a noncancerous growth and you get through this with as little trouble as possible.

After this past year I'm kind of all RAWR! BRING IT ON!

Since Christmas Bruce's been in the hospital for six weeks, had two strokes, had a heart valve replacement, switched jobs, and left the state leaving me behind to pack up the house and move with two children two dogs and a cat. Then, after we got up here, my dad was in the hospital because he had a G.I. bleed so severe his hemoglobin was four, which caused a heart attack and another stroke. And my brother got out of prison and has been living with me half the time well trying to not relapse into heroin use.

If I have to have major health problem it may as well happen now while I am still in crisis mode.

Good luck, I hope they can figure it out quickly. Thyroid is pretty much the best cancer to get, but no cancer is still better than the best cancer, so hopefully it's just a cyst or something!

I'll be thinking good thoughts for you.

And damn, it IS hot out. I don't even want to leave my house!

The humidity today is like Virginia beach brutal. It's no hotter inside than its been all week, but it feels so much worse today.

I keep trying to think of places to go...with no AC, home is the last place I want to be right now.

The heat is more than enough for me too. I'm reaching the point where it would be really, really nice to be able to get a good night's sleep.

I hope the tests show that your thyroid growth is relatively harmless and easily dealt with.

I empathize with your kids - I sleep like crap in the heat.

All my best hopes as regards #3.

As regards #2: I'm deeply grateful that I'm not teaching this summer, which makes it so much easier not to leave the house.

1. Men are idiots.

2. Being without AC is absolute hell. You have my sympathy!

3. Ugh. I'm sending ~positive health vibes~ your way!

I've had a "nodule" on my thyroid since 1999, I think. Apparently, it's very common in women and not usually a problem. Just to be sure, I've had ultrasounds, biopsies, and once, some kind of radioactive test to make sure my thyroid was working correctly.

I saw an endocrinologist for a while, but it never changed and my current doctor after we moved didn't really see a need for it. Now, I just have to have my doctors keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't grow, and have my thyroid levels checked each year.

I'm sending good thoughts that it's much the same for you!

Thanks! We're pretty sure it is impairing my thyroid function; I have all the symptoms from weight gain to hair loss to muscle soreness. And I have a pretty extensive family history of thyroid crap on both sides, only one case of cancer, but lots and lots of hypothyroid, even in the men.

I am so sorry to hear the big C is a possibility. I know thyroid is the best kind to have, but it still sucks. I hope it is benign.

[identity profile] mmegaera.livejournal.com 2013-07-18 05:20 am (UTC)(link)
No matter what kind, no cancer is better than cancer, so here's hoping #3 turns out to be seriously not cancer (and something easily treatable, while I'm at it).

Bruce definitely needs to get his act together.

Ick. Heat.

*hugs and fingers crossed* I've done DC summers with no AC. It was my vision of hell on earth.
