I have a plan. It's still in the formative stages, so I need input.

What were everyone's favorite fictional characters as a small child?

Most of the ones I remember from that age were in story books. The Serendipity books, especially. The Wheedle on the Needle, and Serendipity, and Leo the Lop. I think I also loved Big Bird. We didn't get much TV so it was books and PBS, lol.

I liked the Boxcar children too, but sometimes the older ones bugged me a bit. :)

Define small. Preschool? Grade school?

Preschool, the one I really remember best was "Are You My Mother?" by PD Eastman -- my mother did a terrific "'Snort!' said the Snort" when she read it aloud to me. So I guess you could say my favorite character was a steam shovel [g].

Grade school -- Judy Bolton, Randy Melendy, Danny Dunn, Laura Ingalls, Mary Lennox, Sam Gribley.

Robert McCloskey's Sal and the Mallards, Mike Mulligan and Mary Anne, Raymond Briggs's Father Christmas books, the Oz books. These were the big ones up to five or six.

I started school in 1950, at age 6. This was before Television, so I read a lot, and at an early age... I don't remember my Mom reading to me, but someone must of done so, because I was reading well on my own when I started school.

Alice gave me The Walrus and the Carpenter!

Spot from the Dick and Jane books, and The Poky Little Puppy - (I always wanted a doggie, but was not allowed).

A perverted liking (at 8 years old), for the Big Bad Wolf in Little Red Riding Hood and the Three Pigs. :o)
