I will never understand how people will talk to a partner of family member in ways they would never speak to a stranger or coworker. Call me crazy, but if I love someone I am nicer to them than I am to a random person.

This message brought to you by Bruce's lovely way of pitching a fit at me when he's stressed/anxious/angry about something else. I'm not a fan. I also find it very odd that it never happened the three years we dated. The first time was a month after we got married. If it had happened beforehand I'd have thought twice.

Also, saying "I love you" does not magically erase the words "you're a fucking moron". Just in case anyone else is laboring under that delusion.

It was kind of funny in a way; he's pitching a fit and my mind is just going "stop wasting my time, I'm tired from dealing with actual important things all day". I sure didn't like it, but I wasn't emotionally torn up at all. So go me, I guess?

I don't understand that either. Some people do seem to feel that they can be verbally abusive to those who love them because they have to put up with it. Good for you for not getting too upset over it this time.

My first husband was like that.

Like mother, like son?

oh man, that does suck. Todd used to do that, and after awhile, I was all, whatever in my head. Sometimes I would diagram the sentences he was speaking in my mind.

Well, you could tell me I'm stupid all day long and it would never bother me, because that is the one thing I know I'm not. The one comment he made about my "dumpy ass" is making me all sad though.

I'm glad to hear it didn't mess with you, and yeah I don't get that phenomenon at all either.

Well, the comments about me being stupid didn't big me because that is one thing I am 100% sure I am not. The one comment about my "dumpy ass" has me all :-( because I'm so much heavier than I want to be

This mortgage/moving/holiday fiasco is stressful, so I'm doing my best to remind myself that it really isn't about me.

the stresses will definitely do a number all around, and it's generous you're working to keep that in mind. <3

"Always treat your spouse with great respect, like an honored guest in your home."

Buddha had it right.
